1.Who can I seek out to assist me in enhancing my evidence-based practice (EBP) knowledge and skills and serve as my EBP mentor?
Mentorship in evidence-based practice should be bidirectional. The process requires a nurse to seek mentorship from various sources, given that there is nobody who can have entire knowledge about a given subject in nursing. Consequently, I believe that I need to seek assistance from the nurses who have experience in the facility I am working in while also referring to the existing information from scholarly work, including scholarly journals, especially those from the recent studies conducted in the specific field of my interest at a given time. Currently, I believe that most of the practices that I apply using knowledge obtained from class work as well as my personal research with scholarly work are evidence-based. At the same time, I think I also apply some practices in my work that might not be evidence-based in nature. For example, there are some instances when I am required to use the hospital to deal with certain clients such as implying religious elements to encourage them in their healing process, yet this does not apply in evidence-based approaches (Shaheen, et al., …show more content…
I always use scholarly work to find the best answers to my clinical questions. In fact, I always do a lot of research to ensure that the information I am using in dealing with patients. It is important to use scholarly information, especially by searching information from recent research-based articles and journals.
5.Why am I doing what I do with my patients?
I always do what I am supposed to do with my patients because I believe it is what is right. In particular, I use evidence from research as well as the established code of practices and ethics in the hospital.
6.How can I become more skilled in EBP and mentor others to implement evidence-based care?
By applying research-based information in my practice and working with the mentors and colleagues at the hospital, I will be in a good position to become more skilled in EBP and also become a mentor to other nurses, especially the newly hired and interns.
