For evidence-base practice to be implemented there are many variables at play. First, the nurse leader needs to promote evidence-base practice by creating a positive culture, encouraging discussion at routine meetings, giving nurses the freedom to question how to do things differently, support staff in implementation by giving direction, and designating money in the budget and time for it. To begin with, the wording of the organization’s mission, vision, plan’s, and even staff performance evaluations should include the wording of evidence-base practice. This will affect every area in the company and the future of where the organization is going. As a result, the culture will be influenced and moving the practice of evidence-base learning as the standard. A second example is incorporating evidence-base practice in the shared governance in the organization. This allows leadership and staff to be on the same page and provide nurses the autonomy to implementing evidence-base practice. This would include the support of administration in promoting evidence-base practice by encouraging discussions in committee meetings by always having this on the outline for the meeting. As a result, this will influence the nurse leaders and managers to follow evidence-base practice model, hire nurses knowledgeable in evidence-base practice, and not feel threatened by staff nurse’s questions, and encourage with rewards and acknowledgement the use of evidence base practice by staff nurses.
