That’s what I mean when I say take care of Everglade’s; it is one of the largest remaining subtropical habits in North America. The everglades is often called “River of Grass” because the area has a largely river up to 60 miles wide. Marjory Stoneman Douglas aka “the lady of the Everglades” was the first person to recognize Everglade’s ecosystem and animals. She ended up writing five books about the Everglade’s. Airboats were a popular form of transportation in the Everglade’s they were built to test airplane engines and propellers, they weren’t common in Everglade’s until the early 1950s. Some people imagine Everglade’s as just pretty, wide, blue waters but actually Everglade’s has common fires not only that but it provides drinking water for 7 million people. I failed to mention that not just animals but Everglade’s is the home to over 1,000 plants. There are many different types of plants in Everglade’s including Red Mangrove, Bald cypress, slash pine, Gumbo limbo tree, sabal palm and lysiloma. In Everglade’s summers are hot and humid the temperatures are around 90 degrees and in winter it is nearly freezing with temperatures like 53
