The donor of this large sum of money remains anonymous, but these funds allowed the university to accept 30% more students into its honors program. The Carolina Honors Program has long been nationally recognized as one of the best and most accessible in the country. Additionally, 58% of Carolina Honors Program participants reported that their invitation to the program played a very significant role in their decision to attend Carolina.
On February 7, 2008, UNC held a science forum series at the Morehead Planetarium on performance-enhancing drugs (A closer look at steroids, 2008).
