The United States is known for its melting pot, where all races, and ethnicities, come together to live in one place. With so much diversity, one is able to see people with more than one ethnicity. Although, many multicultural background people are forced to choose one racial group, when these individuals are able to settle between two or more different cultures, these individuals will be better equipped. This means that they will be able to understand other ethnicities, and have an open mind about mixed diverse environments. Also, when these individuals are unworried of their different cultures, it will be easier for them to transition between different cultural mental attitudes. This is important because those who are of different ethnic backgrounds, they will be able to fit in more easily because they understand cultural differences. For instance, in the article, “Self-Identified Multicultural Individuals Realize real benefits,” Alice LaPlan states that all that matters is whether multicultural individuals acknowledged their multicultural identity. Family are those who share connections to their own culture, and are able to accept different cultures coming together. When two people from different cultures come together and bond, they have created a family of two different cultural backgrounds.
