Essential Structures Of The Brain

Decent Essays
The challenge that I faced with this position paper is that I could not find five least essential structures of the brain. As we know, every part of the brain is seriously essential. The hippocampus and the amygdala are the only structures I could say are the least essential. The hippocampus structure is part of the limbic system and aids in forming and remembering memories. The amygdala structure is also part of the limbic system. This structure is controls emotions, and the formation of emotional memory.

The hippocampus not only stores memories and events but it also responds to the stress hormones in the blood. Mental disorders, like depression, may cause the neurons in the hippocampus to shrink, or weaken, starting a chain reaction to mental disorders. As the brain makes new neurons the repeated stress slows the production of those new neurons. Another key structure in emotional regulation is the prefrontal cortex.…

There are many glands and ventricles and parts in the brain that are a huge contribution and every piece in the brain has an important function. Conclusions I might have drawn based upon the structure is that the external structures have the biggest functions since every part of the brain is rather big, except for the frontal lobe in a sheep’s case. The internal structures are as important in the anatomy of a brain as the external structures. In Roger Sperry’s brain dissection was a dissection in which he made a cut right in the middle. Phineas Gage was a man who survived an incident with an iron rod that over 3 feet long.…
