Hello Joan, thank you for sharing your experience at Essentia Health inpatient hospital pharmacy in Virginia. At first I thought the Pyxis is the most popular medication dispensing system in the hospitals until I read your post and you mention that Omnicells is the automated dispensing machine at your IPPE site. I search for Omnicells online and find out that it works very similar to Pyxis machine, which is unit dose medication dispensing machine to prevent medication errors. There is another point that you share with us that surprised me, in the Essentia Health Hospital in Virginia there is no pneumatic tube system, which is used in most hospitals in Twin Cities area.
