Introduction: The urinary system consists of two kidneys. The urinary system performs many functions removing waste, products from the blood and regulating the bodies fluid, electrolytes, acid balance and producing a hormone call erythropoietin, which regulates blood cells formation. The kidneys are pit to the back of the body. It is surrounded by many organs of the digestive system. The kidneys are protected by three layers of connective tissue. The next part of the kidneys is the renal medulla this is also known as the middle region of the kidneys. The Medulla consist of triangular structures, known as the Renal or medullary pyramids.
