Thomas Jefferson Opinion Paper
As one of the founding fathers of this country, Thomas Jefferson is quite well-known by many Americans old and young, but not many know him quite well. He moved this country forward in so many ways, yet there are many compelling arguments today that he was a hypocrite and does not deserve the overall satisfactory reputation his name carries today. However, the fact that he was President and served our country cannot be changed. The effects he had and actions he took for our country have made it the place it is today. However, I believe that Thomas Jefferson was a man who pushed limits and broke moral standards.

This Act was terribly thought out and not only made the situation worse for America, but it did not come close to solving the problem it was supposed to. Jefferson wanted to stop trade with France and Britain to show that America can do well without them, but in reality the U.S. needed those countries to trade with if they wanted their economy to increase. The merchants whose main business was with France or Britain decided to smuggle their goods into the countries because no one was going to stop them once they got out of the port.
Thomas Jefferson may not have been the worst President to ever be in office, but there are some facts he kept liked to keep on the down low. That is what backfired on him, he seemed like a downright hypocrite for keeping slaves, and a sneaky leader for making the deal that was the Louisiana Purchase. All in all, I believe that without Jefferson this country would never be what it is now, but he is not the great man with no flaws many people today think he
