Essay On The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire

The Roman Empire was on of the most powerful and well recognized empires in history. The fall of the roman empire just goes to show that even the most powerful things have major weaknesses. The decline and fall of Rome was primarily due to the economical problems of the Romans. Rome’s economical problems were a result of the overgrowth of the Roman empire. This was once the sign of Rome’s successfulness but becomes one of their biggest weaknesses. As the empire got bigger the military needed to expand which lead to the overspending on the army. This also lead the the inflation of the Roman coin. The inflation of the Roman coin did not make all the people very happy as they lost a lot of money. The roman empires problems were mostly internal. This essay will show the political, economical, military and social causes that caused Rome to fall.

The economy had an overreliance on slave labor which means that many working class people were left without jobs. This did not leave them happy but very irritated. This could have caused some people to abandon their civic duties and some would stop having pride in being a Roman. One of the more important reasons why the society contributed to the fall of the roman empire is the rise of Christianity. This changed their morals and values that the romans were famous for. They lost all that they have stood for since the empire first started. The rise of Christianity moved their focus away from the glory of the state. This made the church people take an advanced role in the government just making it more difficult. Christianity made all of the roman virtues disappear and they were never to be found
