Did you know that there is a bear that is smaller than most humans? This bear is the Sun Bear. The Sun Bear has many unique qualities including that it is the smallest bear on the world! The Sun Bear is very interesting to learn about, and is not hard to learn about either. A Sun Bear is very simple, but yet really fun to learn about! This is a great animal to learn about in class. I hope that you enjoy learning about this animal, because I did.
Sun Bears are very interesting animals, and here are some of the characteristics that make them that way. A Sun Bear’s fur is often times black, short, and has some under-wool. Other Sun Bears can have red or even gray fur. On the chest of a Sun Bear you will see that there is a cream colored patch, sometimes with spots on it. The chest fur can be other colors, aswell, but you oftentimes see it to be cream.The chest can be blond, dirty white, and can even be a light red color. A Sun Bear’s tongue is abnormally long. The length of the tongue is from seven to ten inches long. When Sun Bear’s eat they use their very long tongue to lick up honey and insects. The Sun Bear’s very large teeth are also used to

Sun Bears are omnivores, usually eating insects. They are known to tear open trees with their long claws and large teeth in search for wild bees and insects. Sun Bears also break open decayed wood trying to find a termite mound. If they find a termite mound, they will lick and suck up the termites that were in the mound. Sun Bears may eat fruit whenever it is available to them. Figs are the most popular fruit that Sun Bears eat. When Sun Bears eat fruit, they eat them in very large amounts at a time, and eat them whole. They also may eat some birds, eggs, nuts, reptiles, turtles, deer, and some others. When Sun Bears eat nuts, they crack them open with their powerful jaws. To find most of what they eat, they use their great sense of smell to track it
