Physical spaces and the community where we live in play an integral part in shaping our personality. In my case I spend most of my life in India and I have lived in the United States for only 10 years. Through these years I have learned many things about the Indian culture and the United States culture. In India there were rules, regulations and restrictions that were unreasonable. For example, if you were a girl, you were not allowed to stay out of the house after 6. But after coming to the United States I have so much freedom and I don’t have any restrictions that are unreasonable. For me moving to the United States has given me an opportunity to explore other cultures and be more independent. Having friends with various interests and background has helped me in being non judgmental. The various cultures surrounding gave me an opportunity to keep an open-mind toward every situation I come across. There are three main sociological perspectives and they are functionalist perspective, conflict perspective, and interactionist perspective. In the functionalist perspective, it looks at the society as a system with interrelated parts working together to maintain stability for the society. The conflict perspective focuses on the tensions and conflicts that exist in a stable society. The interactionist perspective shows how a person acts in the society. The sociological perspective entails in upholding impartiality and accepting ideas that could be true based on evidence. We can question what the society accepts as true and see patterns of behavior in people. Having an understanding of the sociological perspective gives an opportunity to understand a person and how the forces in society help a person in making the right
