In court scout learns many things about people, law, and morality, all very important lessons. In the book scout said “i most certainly understand anything you can”. This shows that she can understand some or most thing that happened in the book. Later in the book Scout learning about how some people never use manners she states “what on earth is her life like” showing that her tiny world is expanding and she is starting to understand how it is for other less fortunate. She learns about the struggles that people she meets have. One instance is when Atticus spoke to her about making the best of things and not giving up. “when summer comes you’ll have to keep your head about far worse things... it’s not fair for you and Jem, I know that, but sometimes we have to make the best of things, and the way we conduct ourselves when the chips are down”. This is an important lesson that applies for all of life. In another part of the book the book she is taught the unfairness and injustice of her time “Well, most folks seem to think they’re right and you’re wrong...”. this quote shows Atticus teaching her all most everyone in town thinks in a racially unjust manner. One more instance of this is when in court the decision that was made even though no substantial evidence was provided. “I shut my eyes. Judge Taylor was polling the jury: “Guilty... guilty... guilty... guilty...” . This all furthers my claim that although scout does not learn too much in school she learns quite a bit outside
