Last Wednesday, November 9th, I attended the One Million Cups event at Film Scene. Having never been to one before, I was a little confused about what was going to happen. Last Wednesday, only one of the two individuals could make it to the event. Mike Nelson, the CEO of Red Piglet came and pitched his company. At first, I was not sure what Red Piglet was, but as the presentation progressed and Mike became more comfortable, it was clear how passionate he was about his designs. Red Piglet is a company that designs apparel with prints that encourage individuality and “good vibes.” My first takeaway was how passionate someone can really be about a small business. I know that sounds a little disingenuous, but Mike had a passion. Even though his products are only sold at the Cedar Rapids Farmer’s market, online, and at a few retail businesses, Mike saw his company as successful, and the size of it did not matter. He is a double majoring in Finance and Enterprise Leadership, and we have a mutual friend. We started talking about our ideas and he said if I ever needed help with finance to let him know, and I actually will take him up on that. We also talked about being in the same Entrepreneurial Finance class next semester. I also talked to Micheala Wolfram (micheala-wolfram@uiowa.edu). We have actually been in two classes together, but we have never had the opportunity to formally meet. We talked about future plans and our marketing class. For future classes, we can possibly work together. I also met Jordan Poock (jordan-pook@uiowa.edu).     In conclusion, Jack and the tribe should be tried with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Simon and Roger should be tried with murder in the second degree for the death of Piggy. Both of these defendants have sufficient evidence to be convicted of their respective accusations.
