Essay On Orville Wright

The Wright’s First Flight At one point in time, the thought of manned flight seemed out of this world and impossible. Nobody even dared to attempt it because it was looked at as something completely absurd and something that could never be achieved. The Progressive Era was all about reform or making changes to improve and better the country itself. Nobody saw coming the huge changes and impacts that these two men were going to make. Little did anyone know that soon Orville and Wilbur, the Wright brothers, would transform the world forever, making what seemed impossible, possible. Wilbur Wright was born April 16, 1867 in Millville, Indiana. Orville Wright was born August 19, 1871 in Dayton, Ohio. Reuchlin and Lorin were their two older brothers and Katharine was their younger sister. All five siblings were the children of Bishop Milton Wright and Susan Koerner. The Wright’s home environment allowed the children to be intellectual and creative.
Being that Milton Wright was a Bishop, he was always traveling from place to place preaching, and when he would return he always brought home goodies or toys for his kids. In 1878, Wilbur was 11 years old and Orville was 7, their father brought home a helicopter toy for them to play with. This toy sparked Wilbur and Orville’s love and interest in flight.
