Essay On Naturalistic Observation

In psychology phycologist perform many different study techniques to learn more about something. In this essay I will be designing 3 different studies. The first study is a naturalistic observation. A naturalistic observation is a technique used when the observer is observing something in their natural environment, for example studying a pastor at church. A correlation study is when the experimenter draws an experiment on a group of people, and gives his subjects 2 or more quantitative variables. The goal of a correlation is to conclude if there is a relationship between the variables.
The Naturalistic observation I will be conducting will be on sleep. I will be making my observation at the mall. The reason I decided to make my observation at the mall is because people of all ages go to the mall so the more data I will be able to collect. For my observation I will be going to the mall and asking different people of all ages how many hours of sleep they get a night. The two variables I will be measuring are on Gatorade and hydration during a workout. The purpose of this experiment will see weather people who drink gatorade before a workout stay hydrated longer during a workout or if people who don’t drink anything during a workout stay hydrated longer. During this experiment I expect a positive correlation, I expect people who drink gatorade to be more hydrated. This means that drinking gatorade during a workout will help you stay hydrated and drinking nothing during a workout will make you dehydrated. Another variable that could explain this is a persons health. If a person is healthy and drinks a lot of gatorade or water on a daily basis than they're more likely to be hydrated then someone who doesn’t drink water or gatorade
