The Web based survey seems like the most effective and successful option for conducting our research study.
The biggest disadvantages to using this method are that the participant might not fully complete the survey and the participant may be concerned about disclosing personal information online through the website. The participants may question whether the survey is completely anonymous and confidential and may question how the data will be stored in the database. I will determine the number of women who have been negatively affected five years after the abuse as well as record how many months or years the women were abused to see if the negative effects of the abuse have decreased over time. I will follow up with the women in another five years to determine if the perceived effects have decreased, remained the same, or increased.
One potential weakness is finding participants who are willing to provide thoughtful and in depth responses. Talking about past abuse can be hard and it could be difficult to find willing participants who will be truthful. Another weakness is that some women may forget about certain parts of their abuse. Sometimes, we block out certain memories when we are feeling depressed or going through a tough time.
