Homelessness and poverty are indisputably linked. Poor people are frequently unable to pay for housing, food, childcare, health care, and education. Difficult choices must be made when limited resources cover only some of these necessities. Often it is housing, which absorbs a high proportion of income that must be dropped. The plans should focus on ending homelessness among all populations—chronic, families, youth, veterans, and the elderly. If we start from the bottom it is way easier for cities and counties across the country to see reductions in homelessness. A program they should totally consider is housing, allow past criminals an affordable house.
