To begin with, Friar Lawrence is a big suspect to blame due to his unwise advice. When Romeo was at Friar’s cell begging for approval of his decision to get married to Juliet, Friar agreed to be “thy assistant” (Shakespeare 2.3.90). Friar Lawrence was the holy man of Mantua whom Romeo and Juliet often relied on for his advice and help. After Romeo and Juliet fell in love, Romeo rushed to Friar for him to wed them. Friar knows that Romeo was just in love with another girl and now he is longing to marry an enemy of his family. He proclaimed that it was too sudden but still agrees to marry them the same day in hopes of ending the feud between the families. Friar is not part of this dispute which makes it even more impossible for him to put an end to. This secret arrangement led to even more problems. After Capulet notified Juliet of her betrothal to Paris, Juliet hurried to Friar’s cell in which he came up with an idea for her to “take thou...vial” that will put her in a deathlike state (Shakespeare 4.1.95-100). Juliet is a young girl who was has been pressured by her family to get married. When she met Romeo, she fell passionately in love with him. As most teenagers, she turned to her mentor for help and advice. The nurse was the one who helped Juliet hide their marriage leading Juliet to believe that it was sustainable. Others might say that it is Romeo’s fault for not waiting for Friar's letter and rushing into killing himself.
