A comet is coming toward Earth and could mean the end of everything. The United States government is trying to keep it quiet so no one will panic. Jenny Lerner who is a reporter lets word slip when it isn’t supposed to. When people find out President Beck of the United States has to make a plan. The astronaut Spurgeon Tanner and his men will land on the comet and will put bombs on it and hopefully destroying the comet. If they don’t get the job done then that is the end for everybody and everything on planet earth. Many critics thought the acting in Deep Impact was excellent and the director, Mimi Leder, put emotion into a majestic movie based on the scientific script.

Let’s go ahead and get the bad special effects out. The graphics were not as good as they could have been. The movie was also really unrealistic and really downgrades the drama on how bad a comet could be (Plaitt 52). Some say the best part of the movie is the science/special effects (Heller). The science behind the scenes seemed impeccably well researched (Heller). The special effects helps and supports the script to make it believable. Some of the special effects are good others “portray” the 1970’s (Kong 79). The effects in space are not realistic at all, as in that there is no sound in space (Kimble 56).
