In my opinion teachers are the most important persons in every student’s life. They are here not only for giving a student necessary theory, but they hold the post of psychologist, parent and counsellor. Furthemore, pupils at primary school can see his teacher as a heroe or an idol.
So the question has been risen- what makes teacher a good teacher? What are the required qualities he or she should have? To take care about well being of the whole class, to be flexible, to have a drive, to provide motivation? Or, on the other hand, are skills, subject area knowledge and pedagogical knowledge sufficient? I can strongly agree with this statement, as a whole education system depends on the quality of teachers and basically is based on them. But unfortunately, the education system is different in every country. I would like to mention the quality of education in Slovakia, my native land. Some teachers over 50 or 60 years old started to teach in times of communism. Their main aim was just to give a student necessary theory, nothing like giving them motivation, take care about them and focus on their social or family backrounds, or to be able to build relationships. The whole system started to recover, as the communism ended 30 years ago, but we can not talk about our education system as a good one, yet, because of the model of study.
