Introduction The US Army is a profession in the sense that its members proficiently protect, serve, and defend the people, our domain, and uphold the traditions and values of the Army well beyond war. Men and woman of this great nation are shaped into professional warriors trained and entrusted to support and defend the Constitution. The white paper describes a professional as one who develops expertise over time through extensive institutional training, knowledge, and expanding practices.

What does it means to be a professional A professional is an expert with years of study, high degree of skills or competence in a specialized field. A professional continuously strives to develop and improve for the society. Military Profession provides security to this society in which would vulnerable without. The Army’s Soldiers experience

The positive and negative consequences that have come with the war have not downgraded or Soldier’s belief in our Army Vales. Majority of our Soldiers believe the Army Values are demonstrated in overall performance and conduct by their peers. Importantly, we must remember sustaining the Army Values has pushed us through some of the most difficult years and will be the foundation of our profession. (P 19)

The Army’s Professional Culture Our culture is informed by and withstands the Army Ethic, the heart of the Army. Therefore, culture goes beyond just style. All professions and major organizations have diverse cultures that influence behaviors and form the identity of their members. The culture of a people generally shows what is acceptable and effective in times of strong need. Climate is frequently driven by policies and practices, displays the leader’s characters. Nothing like culture, that is deeply embedded, climate can be changed quickly. (P 9 / 51)
