“All right everybody; remember that you have to be patient with the root pass when welding. A strong foundation is essential for the remaining passes.” These are the words that I always keep in mind when starting a weld. To many, Welding is just a career you can pursue to be able to have a decent lifestyle. However, to me, welding is a craft in which I am able to find an analogy of life. The analogy being that you must take every step patiently in order to have set a firm step. Ever since I was a little kid up to the young man I am today, I have been captivated by Mathematics and Science. As expected, many of us in the welding class made thin beads resulting in a poor weld. The reasoning behind this is that you must take your time with the weld puddle and gently move along to fill in our gap. It took me a while to realize that there was a meaning within that itself. In everything that we do in life, we must not rush ourselves to the finish line because we might miss things that will affect us in the future. To me, welding depends greatly on patience. After I took this into account, welding became a bit easier. Now I must say that it did not get easy just by realizing that I needed to be patient. After understanding what I needed to do, I went through several plates until my welds improved significantly. I did get frustrated at times, but I believe that one must never give up on something that someone truly aspires. It took me sometime to comprehend that welding was so much more than I thought it was. I found myself so passionate of the craft that I didn’t give up until I became a good welder. I believe that welding made me want to pursue my career as a structural engineer even more due to the fact that I am sure that all the experiences I will obtain as a Structural Engineer will be in another
