A cell is a very basic structural and functional unit of life. A human body is considered multicellular because the body consists of trillions of cells. Cells have many different functions throughout the body, and they ‘stem’ from simpler cells that do not yet have a specific function. These cells are known as stem cells. This basically means these cells do not have a specific job in body yet, but have the potential to become any cell in the body. Stem Cell research has been around for decades, and they are continuing to study what stem cells can do and the outcome, and what their benefits are. There are two different types of stem cells; embryonic stem cells and Adult stem cells. Here is what will be covered; what are embryonic stem cells and Adult stem cells? They believe that the embryo symbolizes life because it has the potential to fully develop into a human being. Those against embryonic stem cell use believe that is it immoral and unethical to destroy one life to save another. They also believe that when they take the cells from the embryo, they discard the embryo, this act basically de-values human life and since adult stem cells are currently being used, there is no further need to use embryonic stem cells. As for the people whom are for embryonic stem cell research believe that the embryo does not symbolize life, because although it is an embryo it is not inside the womb, but in a dish, scientifically grown. But somehow this debate can maybe be over, because the scientist have somehow learned how to stimulate a patient 's own cells to behave like embryonic stem cells. These cells are reducing the need for human embryos in research and opening up exciting new possibilities for stem cell
