It’s the beginning of fall but there have been storms brewing from the oceans that has affected the city that Colin has been staying at. The wide avenue is lit by the first rays of the day, shining through a thin layer of grey clouds, like a stain glass window. The days and nights they have spent apart have all seemed to run together. As Colin packs his last bags, his thoughts are lost in Naya, but soon he will be on the plane and home by the evening. He contemplates whether to call or text her before he boards or wait until he lands. The stormy weather has cancelled his previous flight but today it’s finally clear. Naya can’t leave the dance studio she just opened up. She has put every dime she had into it. They both know a long distance relationship would not work. They could barely make it through one week of being apart. But they decided to take this time to re-examine their life while apart. Their relationship is at a point of moving forward or toward a complete break. There is no denying the love between them. There’s only the question of whether it’s strong enough to withstand the trials that life has brought upon them. Naya couldn’t let him give up on his dream while she lives hers out. As her mind wonders, the phone buzzed and she looked down at it; would there be a message from him? No, just another update from Twitter. She punched a few buttons on the phone, thankful for a moment’s distraction anyways. She read the news – just the usual floods and storms, bickering politicians, spoilt sportsmen, blah blah blah. Time seemed to crawl along like a crippled snail. Then finally a text comes in from Colin, he will be home in time for dinner. Naya heart fills with joy as her stomach fills with butterflies.
