Many people see villains as one dimensional characters, they don’t stop to look at who they really are or why they do what they do. There have been many countless “villains” throughout history. Whether you see someone as a villain or a hero is all a matter of perspective. During the rise of Hitler many Germans saw him as a savior who was going to get Germany out of a depression. Many people may also see America as tyrannical ruler that can’t be contained. Perspective can also be describe as psychology. Psychology is the study of of human behavior and describes why we act the way we do. Many times the human brain can become damaged without a person even realizing that it has happened. “Psychology comes from the Greek words psyche, meaning mind or soul, and logos, meaning word” (Doorey). Psychology was first studied in the mid-nineteenth century by German scientists. There are eleven main fields of psychology: abnormal, comparative, clinical, development, educational, industrial/organizational, personality, physiological, social, and positive. Psychology isn’t just used in detective shows on TV like Criminal Minds or BBC’s Sherlock, it is used in everyday life and many people may not even realize it. Many people may use psychology to make very subliminal messages like propaganda or warning. A place that uses psychology immensely is Disney World. PTSD is a mental disorder that is caused by extreme psychological distress. World War I was the first major war on an international level so it was the first chance to really see what such crude battle conditions did to the human brain. Many people will have to attend psychotherapy and have anxiety management to have PTSD treated. Mental disorders can also be linked to head injuries that may be sustained in the trench warfare during World War I. “In those who do experience it, there is growing evidence that actual physical changes occur in the brain”
