Step 1: Observation - What could the word mean?
As a slave or soldier is marked so has God also marked those who belong to Him. In the TDNT, it says that believers are marked and God is now in possession of each believer.

a. NKJV Sealed: 21times
b. KJV: Seal, Sealed Sealing = 22 times
c. sphragizō: 32 times
d. In the TDNT, Theological Dictionary of the New Testament it says 32 times. σφραγίς with σφραγίζω and κατασφραγίζω occurs 32 times in the NT, 22 of the instances being in Rev.
