Environmental Benefits Of Solar Energy Technologies

Superior Essays
Energy is one of the most fundamental thing in all kind of life on earth. It allows people to travel across the globe, it provides electricity to our homes, it is critical to almost all the basic human activities. This fact makes the energy sector one of the most important sectors that gives input to many other sectors (Bozkurt, 2010). As a matter of fact, electricity changes the way people live and see the world and without it everything would be different. Apart from that, economical activities, companies, hospitals and schools, media, entertainment and others would not be the same. The advance in technology implies incrementation in the number of devices, machines as well as systems which, require electrical energy to operate. Therefore, …show more content…
In addition to not exhausting natural resources, their main advantage is, in most cases, total absence of almost any air emissions or waste products. In other words, Solar Energy can almost be considered as an absolute clean and safe energy source (Tsoutsos, et al.,2005). Not to mention the socioeconomic benefits, such as diversification and security of energy supply, provision of significant job opportunities, support of the restructure of energy markets, reduction of the dependency on fuel imports and acceleration of the electrification of rural communities in remote/isolated areas (Tsoutsos, et al.,2005). Although the adoption of solar energy is almost free of negative effect which can be considered as negligible, actions must be taken to minimize or avoid these casualties. The magnitude of these impacts lies on the dimension of the system, that is, smaller systems produce less negative impacts due to the limited amount of resources used. So, small size projects require few workers and can supply small size areas and therefore, producing negligible amount of waste and affecting few people. By the same token, large scale projects affect more people and produce higher magnitude impacts. To sum up, Solar Energy is one of the best ways to produce electrical energy without compromising the environment since it is a clean energy, it contributes to the economy and society by creating new job opportunities and above all, make a better world for the generations to

"During the past years, numerous technological innovations have been made; however, the initiation of solar energy usage is perhaps the most promising. For instance, as a direct result of the rapid depletion of nonrenewable resources, human populations will eventually have to turn to the one inexhaustible resource that can help preserve the human living style; that is, the sun. To demonstrate, a German architect named Andre Broessel, recently created a solar power generator in the shape of a spherical lens that is not only convenient, but that is also highly efficient when compared to other traditional solar panels. Capable of powering homes, serving as a substitute for resources such as natural gas, and even capable of being utilized as a…
