At the end they had to summarize what led to United States entry to WWI. I collected their work and went over the answers with them. I did this pulse check for two reasons. First to collect data and see who is following along to the pace of the class and Secondly, was to see if I can found common misunderstandings that I need to readdress. I realize during this pulse test students struggled with remembering and understanding the two main causes that led to United States entering WWI. At that moment I showed commitment to the on-going improvement of my teaching practices (Enquiry 5). As a result, I spent the following day going over why and when United States entered WWI. Furthermore, students had a clear understanding on United States entry into WWI because it showed up in their writing (benchmark). For example Student A stated in his essay
“ The causes of WW1 were militarism, alliances, imperialism and nationalism. All four issues led to the begin of ww1 which started from 1914 to 1918, this war is known as the great war.
