Imagine playing football without shoulder pads, playing baseball without a glove, or playing hockey without a stick. Not only would that add extreme difficulty to the sport, but you would most likely have a lot more bruises and broken bones without these items. Thankfully, Rawlings invented all of these products on their way to becoming one of the premier brands in the sporting goods industry In 1887, George H. Rawlings and his brother Alfred started a retail sporting goods store in St. Louis, Missouri that sold everything from wagon covers to hunting rifles. Always looking for new opportunities, Rawlings would invent products to fill unique niches in various sports. Rawlings introduced shoulder pads to American football, and also the modern…

There is a fine line between a grand leader and an absolute tyrant. Germany was unfairly accused of World War 1 and all the unfortunate deaths and destructions that occurred. They were solely blamed and not given a chance to recover because they were forced to sign a peace treaty, the Treaty of Versailles, which began the downfall of Germany. Before World War 1, Germans were incredibly proud of their heritage; however, compared to after World War 1 the people were seen with their heads hung in shame and humiliation. Everyone felt lost afterward and Germany was completely damaged leaving a feeling of heartbreak, disillusionment, and sadness.…

My reaction to this weeks assignment “Metallic Sights: Design and Application” is one of the areas of gunsmithing I am still timid in. When I first learned shooting with iron sights was when I entered the US Army on the M16A2. I was so scared having to zero my own rifle; I did not understand three clicks left two clicks down. Then having to regroup until the grouping was in a certain inch circle. It took me a long time to grasp the concept of zeroing, but eventually I got it.…

By 9:00 am the 36th were holding the Schwaben Redoubt and the surrounding front but if the attack was to continue reinforcements would be needed. Thirty minutes before hand, Major General Nugent asked the headquarters of 107th Brigade to advance, currently unaware of the increasing deterioration of the 32th Division’s advance to their left flank. At 9:15 am Nugent received instructions to halt the 107th Brigade’s advance but with communication lines down, it was too late and the 107th Brigade had already gone over the top to support the advance (‘The History of the 36th (Ulster) Division’ by Cyril Falls). The day’s fighting remained intense and heavy casualties continued to mount as the 36th held out tirelessly at the Schwaben Redoubt, fending off three German counter attacks before the day was out.…

Recently, scientists have discovered fossils of an extinct species of turtles that particularly have snouts as noses, similar to a pig. However, because of its snout, it was named Golden's bacon turtle, or Arvinachelys golden. Usually, turtles have one nasal passage in their skulls because of how fleshy their nostrils are. Arvinachelys golden was found by a team from Natural History Museum of Utah and discovered the fossil at the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. In addition, this turtle also had a near completed forelimb, partial hindlimbs, and vertebrae from the neck and tail, unlike any other turtle ever recorded.…

These days, most people choose to go out to eat at a restaurant instead of cooking a meal at home. It is the same routine everywhere – a server greets you, takes your order and serves the food to you and when you are all done eating, you tip your server based on the service they provided. But have you ever wondered do these servers actually enjoy their job? It is pretty much required for them to pretend like it is the best job in the world even if they think otherwise. Their positive attitudes is one of the ways they make money.…

The subtle yet effective packaging helps save costs while promoting the Kirkland brand. In my opinion their new beer is aimed to compete with the light domestic beers such as Bud Light and Coors light. The target market demographic is for younger beer drinkers or the beer drinkers who are on a budget. This would include college kids and young adults in their twenties. Kirkland already introduced a high-end craft beer product a couple years ago but with the average age of consumers, drinking beer in the US being 38 and the weekly income is $738.00 (Lopez & Matschke, 2012), Kirkland needed to have a lower priced solution on their shelves.…
