The choice of sealer effects the prognosis of the treatment. Endodontic sealers are selected based on their biocompatibility, antimicrobial properties, and potential to provide a hermetic seal. Sealer extrusion, is common during obturation procedures. Consequently such extrusions have been shown to have cytotoxic effects on periapical tissues elucidating an inflammatory response. In addition, they activate sensory neurons, and these events have been corroborated with increased postoperative discomfort and persistent pain states
