“I could kill you like this.”(page 12) This quote is taken from Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. In this one quote, it sums up the relationship between Ender and his brother Peter. Peter is one of the greatest influences in Ender's life, even if Ender refuses to admit it. Because Peter was so cruel and violent towards Ender, often physically abusing him(page 12). Due to this End began to imitate Peter's actions when he played the war games ruthlessly. This led to Ender being a remarkable commander. Through the violent ‘games’ Peter coerced Ender to play, Ender was almost forced to develop a prodigious skill to strategize battles. . “I am not a killer. I am not Peter….”(page 24) Ender tells himself this after he broke another boys arm. Because Peter is so sadistic and cruel, Ender does not want to behave as Peter does. Because of this Ender is careful with how he acts, often restraining himself in the fear that he will imitate Peter’s actions

Bugger and Astronauts is one of the barbaric war games Peter plays with Ender. During the games, Ender has to find ways to defeat Peter, and through that he learns how to plan. When Ender advances to battle school he proves that he is an indispensable asset to his army. This is because Ender can hatch unique battle strategies, that almost guarantee his army’s success. If Ender had not had the previous experience to develop his strategies, he may not have become the distinguished commander he is. Thanks to Peter, Enders skills soon transcended his peers. Due to Peter’s violence, manipulation and ruthlessness, Ender developed assets he may not have had
