Emperor penguins are the only animal that stay in Antarctica during winter not only can they survive the most awful weather conditions on earth they walk a long distance to return to their birthplace to mate and produce offspring on the open ice. In early June once the females have laid her egg they carefully transfer the egg from on their feet to the father’s feet. The couple have to be very careful because if the egg stay on the ice for too long the chick inside will die. The mother penguins will then make her way back to the sea to eat, and for more than two months the fathers will look after the eggs. The father will go over 125 days without food. The male Emperor penguins form large huddles this helps share body warmth and shelters them
