Emotion Focused Constructive Coping Skills

Looking back in my life I can see one event that sticks out vividly in my mind that was extremely stressful. This event was subsequent heart attack and death of my mother when I was 32 years old. During this time in my life I would say that I used Emotion Focused Constructive Coping Skills. Not realizing it at them time, I was actually using my enhanced emotional intelligence in coping with the stress of the loss. I knew I needed to get control of those emotions before it had devastating consequences. First, sat down and realized I needed to put names to the emotions that were going through my head. Second, I gave these emotions names such as sorrow, frustration, hopelessness, confused and anxious. Third, I sat down at home on the couch
