How did I become interested in this career? I’ve always wanted to be in the medical field, I want be able to experience the feeling of Adrenaline rush, I and had the passion to help people. But I didn’t really know what health career was my calling. During my junior year of high school, last year, I was in a health careers class, because I was exploring my interest trying to find out what I wanted to major in college and what my dream job really was. While I was in this class I found out that I love helping people more than I thought. I saw that I can become a certified Emergency Medical Technician as soon as I get out of high school, if I pass the EMT course, the written test, and successfully performed in my supervised clinical trainings. So I will be able to do what I love, saving peoples lives, and have a job while I am in college. I also thought that being able to show that I know how to work with people will look good on any application if I decide to take my medical career to the next level. EMTs are the foundation of the EMS system in the US. Emergency Medical Technician, are first responders in the event of medical emergencies. They provide out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services system. Some of the patients you will treat are in life-threatening situations, whereas others require only supportive care. When they respond to any medical emergency, it is mostly car accidents, childbirth, violent traumas, and heart attacks. EMTs have basic equipment to preform interventions that are typically found on an ambulance. On a daily basis they make life-or-death
