Lineberry has a M.A. degree in writing from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina. She was the editor for National Geographic and a web editor for Smithsonian Magazine. She has also written for a number of publications including The New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine, and Fox News. Most of her articles are written about various areas in American history including the Civil War and World War II. Some titles of her articles are, “The Women Who Also Gave Their Lives”, and “Women Spies of the Civil War”. Lineberry is also an author of a book titled, “The Secret Rescue”. In her book she tells the true story of women nurses in World War II whose airplane crash landed on enemy territory.
