Eliza Pickeny was the daughter of George Lucas who was a British Army lieutenant-colonel and lieutenant governor of Antigua. They do not know that much about her mother. When she was young her father sent her to school which was odd for a women in that era of time. While her father was in the war she had to control the plantations that her farther owned. She teaches of the African American women to read and write so they can teach there kids. She is known for having a lot of plantations for being a woman.

The plantation that they lived on had 20 slaves and was called Wappoo because it was close to Wappoo Creek. Which the Wappoo plantation was in debt she was looking for a crop to lower it she tried ginger, alfalfa, cassava, and other crops. Then her father sent her Indigo seeds. Also when Britain was

The indigo that she had grown and sold went down with the economy when the Revolutionary War stop trade in the Atlantic.

A camp follower is someone who followers the army troops. There are two types of them one is the wives and children who follow them from one place to another the other one is someone who would sell services to them that the military can not give to them for example cooking, clean laundry, liquor, nursing, ect.

European and American armies really depended on the services of camp followers. That included delivery and transportation of supplies which helped. Camp followers would often outnumber the army itself making some problems. Camp followers were both a good and a bad thing to the army. They would bring the stuff the military man needed. Camp followers often soldiers wives would wash, sew, nurse and even acted as servants to them. However camp followers would have to be fed, clothed, and transported to where the army is
