Elie Wiesel Night Faith

Night a book writen by Elie Wiesel that gives the reader insight to the struggles of being of Jewish faith during the hollocaust. Elie Wiesel starts the book by giving the reader details about his level of faith and image of God. The book not only talks about what happened to the Jewish people but helps the reader understand how ones faith in God can change or diminish in the face of extreem adversity. Night is more than a title but a theme expressing the death of an innocent people, the feeling of a world without God and the natural human urg to survive at all costs. The hollocaust claimed many innocent lives of old, young, male and female Jews. On the night Elie, his family and the Jewish population living in the ghetto arrived at the camp they were put through the first selection process that would either send them to the work camp or the pits of the crematorium. If not for a prison who warned Elie and his father to lie about their age they would have been burned upon arrival. Although the fait of the rest of Elies family wasnt addressed one can assume that they didnt survive the original selection. During the first selection Elie questioned how a loving and observant God could allow such inhumane treatment to an innocent people to occur. Inside camp Elie knew of and saw from time to time a rabbi that had passed selection. Somewhere along the line even the rabbi losses his faith in God and the sight of that makes Elie lose some of his hope that the camps may be a test from God. Finnaly when a kapo and his young beloved assistant were arrested and tortured they were sentencd to be hung. Although the men had become hardend to such violence, seeing the boy get hung brought tears to the eyes of many. This was the finnal straw for many and some people lost the last of their faith in
