ABSTRACT
Introduction: Elastography is considered a non-invasive imaging modality which determines the tumors according to their stiffness (elasticity). Strain images representing the relative stiffness of lesions in comparison to the stiffness of surrounding normal tissue as malignant tumors tend to be stiffer than the normal tissue, which results in under compression.
Purpose: To prospectively evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the real-time sonoelastography together with B-mode US for distinguishing between benign and malignant breast lesions.
Methods: The study was conducted on 20 patients with 36 lesions, each patient was subjected to complete history taking, thorough clinical examination. Then all patients had conventional US and elastography while only in 17 patients mammography was done.
Results: Among the 20 patients, sensitivity and specificity of the

Breast cancer is the leading cause of death among women in developed countries and its incidence is increasing and so the aim of breast cancer control is early detection for better management and prognosis .(1)
Nowadays after development of recent techniques in breast imaging as well as the screening programs and higher degree of health awareness there is relative decreased incidence of breast cancer mortality.(2)
The main modalities which are used in breast imaging are mammography which is the reference technique, sono-mammography and MRI. B- mode ultrasound is considered as the complementary examination for the investigation of breast

The United States Preventive Service Task Force (USPSTF) recommends to skip the annual screening of breast cancer to checking it every two years, starting at the age of 50. These guidelines is very controversial to many advocacy groups. The responsibilities and goals of the USPSTF is to efficiently prevent deaths of breast cancer and to save as many lives as possible. It is important to understand that breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death among women (USPSTF, 2017). Their objective is to provide evidence-based recommendations so that it allows the patient to think about their own decisions about when to start mammography screening.…

Poverty Barriers related to poverty contribute significantly to Black-White disparities in breast cancer survival (Freeman, 2004). Poverty affects all Americans regardless of race; however, African Americans tend to shoulder a greater burden from poverty because they constitute a large proportion of the poor in the United States. Some studies have shown that Black-White disparities in breast cancer mortality are reduced after accounting for socioeconomic status. Poverty is associated with poorer breast cancer outcomes for all Americans, regardless of race; however, because a larger proportion of African Americans than Whites live in poverty (Bigby & Holmes, 2005), African Americans are more likely to face poverty-related barriers. Benign Lesions of the Breast: A) Benign proliferative breast disease: 1. Fibroadenoma: Fibroadenoma is the most benign soft tissue mass of the breast and accounts for approximately 40%-50% of all breast biopsies (Liberman, 2000). Ultrasound is a method of creating the best possible images to assist the Radiologist in the diagnosis of a patients pathology. This process occurs through sound waves. These sound waves have a frequency that is far beyond what humans can hear, although using these sound waves we are able to transmit ultrasound energy into the patient. Once the energy is inside the patient the structures reflect and distribute the sound which creates an echo. This echo is what allows us to produce an image of the structures of concern within our patients.…

If the results of your pap smear test are normal but the cervix is still atypical and you have other risk factors, as well, your doctor may ask you to return in approximately three months for a second pap smear test to confirm the diagnosis. To find out whether and where cancer cells are on the surface of the cervix, a colonoscopy or a cervical biopsy may come into play. A loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP), is a test that may be necessary for further examination of the cervical tissue. Keep an eye out for these apparent signs and symptoms of breast cancer: thickening in the breast or armpit, bleeding or discharge from the nipple, change in size, color, or shape of the nipple, and, pain to the breast or the surrounding…
