Efficient Bloodstain Expert: The Molly Wright Case

A tremendous amount of education is necessary for one to be an efficient bloodstain expert (BPE). Experience in this field is also a great tool when it comes to making the correct judgment. Experience helps an expert to determine the bloodstains that may overlap. A single crime scene may have various bloodstains patterns. This leads to the need of a BPE though it is very important to weigh in all the evidence at the scene. Some evidence includes bullet trajectories, DNA, firearms analysis (if present), and all crime scene photos (Young, 2011, pp. 287-289).
One of the bloodstain patterns is that which consists of blood drops. If a drop falls from the force of gravity alone, it may make different sizes of drops as it strikes the surface. It is usually difficult to know the length of the fall because the size the drop started with is not known. The angle and the texture of the surface also have the ability to distort the drop. Mr. David Hill had claimed that he found Ms. Wright’s body in the kitchen. He also said that the blood found on him was as a result of him trying to revive Ms Wright. Clearly, this could have been evidence that exonerated him. The BPE, Warna, testified and said that the blood spatters found on Mr. Hill could not have been made by the actions that he claimed he had performed. This was the major importance of her testimony. Without it, justice may not have been served. I believe that her testimony was of great importance in this case. When a person bludgeons another person, some blood spatters may be deposited on the perpetrator that takes the form of a fine mist. This depends mainly on the weapon used and the force of the weapon at impact. There could also be large deposits of blood when some weapons are used with a given force. (Young, 2011, pp.
