Throughout history, as time progressed so has humans and the advancement of technology. For, example in the beginning people did not own land or plant food they were nomads. They moved where ever the animals went since that was their food source and they needed to follow their source of food. They did not have any farming tools because there was …show more content…
That is because there are billions more people than there was in the past. So even though our technology is more efficient and environmentally friendly we are still cranking out the high levels of pollution. A prime example of this is the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In 2008 the city of Beijing had to make laws to cut down on their pollution production because they were about to hold the Olympics and a person could see the smoke in the air. The pollution levels were worse there than other places not because they have different technology, but because of their population. Beijing is one of the most populated cities in the world, it has millions of people. This great population makes pollution worse in their city, because pollution and population have an inverse relationship. Which means as on goes up so does the other. This same inverse relationship between population and pollution that has caused Beijing’s pollution levels to be so high has caused the earths pollution levels to keep rising through the years even though new energy efficient and zero emission technologies have been made. A great example of the negative consequences this increase of levels of pollution has caused is the melting of the ice caps. Tons of ice is melting and breaking off into the ocean due to pollution. Polar bears are drowning because they go out fishing and the ice melts and they have nowhere to go. They are just stuck treading water looking anywhere for land. Eventually their bodies are pushed to the point of exhaustion where they can no longer swim anymore and they drown. The melting of the ice also reduces the surface area of the ice. The ice on the ice caps reflects the sun ray back which cools the earth, but as the ice caps melt less of the sun’s rays are bounced back. This makes the earth get slightly hotter which makes more pieces of the ice caps melt and the cycle of the earth warming and polar bears dying to
