Trials In To Kill A Mockingbird

This world has experienced a lot of racial incidents during the 20th and 21st centuries. With that in mind, it does not only occur between African-Americans and Caucasians (black and whites) but also with different cultures as well. A representation of how bad racial controversies used to be in the 20th century comes from the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, which unveils the Tom Robinson case from the 1930s. Tom Robinson was an African-American who was accused of raping Mayella Ewell, a caucasian woman. He is accused of being guilty almost immediately because he is a black man and the woman involved is white. All races are feuding, it just so happens that the blacks and whites are getting most of the social media 's attention. Famous trials that …show more content…
Clearly the time between the 20th and 21st centuries it was showcased drastically. Multiple trials occurred during this time frame and not only were they between African-Americans and Caucasians but a Peruvian and African-American as well. The novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, thoroughly depicted a man who was only trying to help a woman with things she could not do on her own. But because he was a black man, and she was a white woman, that was considered a crime. Trials have continued on from the 20th century to today 's time. It hasn’t stopped (racial discrimination) but it is less of a problem from Emmett Till and the Scottsboro boys time. Modern cases are not as racially biased when convicting people of crimes. The juries are evened out, regarding the ethnicity and race, and a judge cannot play favorites while performing his duties. The 20th century was definitely a time in which races could not get along, and sadly many people, African-Americans being that majority, had to pay for it.
