Which at the time only viewed the Milky Way, because it was thought that that was how large the universe was. Edwin Hubble was responsible for the founding of the Cepheid, a type of star, in the Andromeda Nebulae in the year 1924, at the top of Mt. Wilson. Another great achievement that happened in Hubble’s life in the year 1924 was when he happily married Grace Burke in Pasadena, California, and even though the couple never had children they remained together until his death in …show more content…
In the year 1935 Edwin Hubble discovered the 1373 Cincinnati, which is a main belt asteroid. Another great accomplishment of Edwin Hubble is his book ‘The Realm of The Nebulae,’ published in 1936. His book goes further into detail about his law and more astronomical findings. His work let him obtain an award called the American Association Price along with 500 dollars.
Once again, Hubble’s life came to a screeching halt in 1942 where he left the Mount Wilson Observatory to go fight in World War II on Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was awarded the Legion of Merit medal in 1946 for his service in World War II. At last, he went back to the observatory. For his many astronomical achievements and contributions, he was made Honorary Fellow of Queen’s college in 1948.
Edwin Hubble was also greatly involved in the design and construction of the Hale two hundred inch telescope on Palomar Mountain, and in 1949 he was given the honor of being the first one to use the telescope. Though a while after, Edwin suffered from a vital heart attack that left him very ill and ceased his further studies. His care was up to his wife, Grace Hubble where he had to follow a modified diet and work
