The Essential Elements of an Edmund Rice Christian Brother Education was created to serve as a guide standard in the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers’ ministries and future endeavors. The Essential Elements help share in God’s loving presence and share his Gospel insight as his children of God. Especially the Essential Elements III and IV, Damien Memorial School inspires young men and women to exemplify the message of the gospel brought to by Jesus Christ. Through Blessed Edmund Rice, Damien Memorial School shares in the involvement of a Christian Brother Education to live and preach Gospel values. His vision was meant to inspire those in taking part in evangelizing youth within the mission of the Church. Proclaiming and witnessing the Catholic identity, stand in solidarity with those marginalized by poverty and injustice, foster and invigorate a community of faith, celebrate the value and dignity of each person and nurture the development of the whole person. Collaborate and share responsibility for the mission, and pursue excellence in all endeavors. Including the essential elements brought by Edmund Rice, Damien Memorial School show their participation through mission collections, community service, scholarships, donations, funds, and etcetera. Damien encourages the whole student body to help with mission collections that are collected at the end of each week, and then sent off to help those in need. For example, the rice bowl that is done every year gives Damien students an insight that their donations are making good use to those who are in need of it. Damien also expects students to complete at least fifty hours of community service every year for their time at school. It could be any kind of service that shows students their participation, and involvement with the surrounding community. Damien Memorial School also offers scholarships that help kids who are struggling with money achieve their Catholic education. This is being financial scholarships come hand in hand to help a child willing to get an education and maintain the average grade point average. Thus, their future could have a better outlook
