Poe starts by effectively including various examples of irony that is used in the story. The narrator Irony is when a meaning is opposite of what is actually meant. Even though he loved the old man he still did a horrible thing. In the story, the narrator quoted, “ "I was never kinder to the old man than during the whole week before I killed him." This quote supports that all of the sudden the narrator gets this idea to do this horrible act towards the old man that he always loved and cared for. He plotted out the old man’s death which is ironic because he was caring for the old man. Also another quote the narrator wrote in the story was, “ And every morning, when the day broke, I went boldly into the chamber and spoke courageously to him,
