Eczema is from a Greek word meaning, “to boil” it is a non-contagious skin disease characterized dry, red, itchy, and scaly skin. Eczema is also known as atopic dermatitis (AD), a chronic form. Nearly 31 million Americans suffer from AD. Eczema is a very common disease occurring in infants, children, and adults. Many signs and symptoms are noticeable like dry, itchy skin that tends to itch a lot more and the causes. In addition, treatments that are mention for all ages that is effect of this disease.
Signs & Symptoms
Some signs and symptoms dry itchy skin, itching, which may be severe, especially at night. Red to brownish – gray patches and appears on the hand, wrist, feet, ankle, neck, upper chest. For infants it is usually on the face and scalp. Small, raised bumps, which may leak fluid and crust over when scratched. Thickened, cracked, scaly skin. Raw, sensitive. Rough leather patches and dark coloration.

Because it affects different ages, there are different treatments for all. Meaning kids and adults. For kids, it is common to apply moisturizers. During eczema flares it should be applied, but at other times of the day. Moisturizer hydrates and protects skin from damage. A cream that smooth's and protect irritated skin. Avoiding soap and other irritants. For adults that have kids that are affected with eczema must see a doctor if their child is so uncomfortable that the condition is affecting their sleep and daily actives. If their child has an infection, such as pus and yellow scabs. Also, for steroid cream it is important that it is not to be applied daily to skin that is affected.
