A reflection of this eight weeks journey in Foundations of Autonomous Practice has showcased the different facets of what makes us a better and responsible clinicians- from identifying our core values to enabling our decision-making as a diagnostician in the realm of disablement. As we are about to disembark from our trip we are faced with another challenge; we are to traverse the great divide between research and our patients. Fortunately, a bridge has been built to enable us to cross that gap between research and the patients; aptly we shall refer to this bridge as evidence-based practice (EBP). This bridge is one of the a landmarks in our road map to autonomous practice. To fully understand and incorporate EBP we need to see the processes involved. This paper will walk us through the salient steps I took in EBP- from framing the clinical question then performing the literature search in various electronic databases and applying the rules of evidence to establish validity of the study and finally to relate the findings to the patient’s clinical problem (Guyyat et al., 2000).
The Clinical Question

Using the EBSCO host of the Utica College Library, I choose five databases simultaneously to start my search regarding my clinical question. Using the simultaneous search of databases automatically removes exact duplicates from the results. The databases searched simultaneously by EBSCO host were the following: (1).
