Intro Many years ago, when the discovery of Ringworms came to be, an abundant number of doctors believed it was due to worms called hence. According to David Gruby around 1843, he described a fungus that causes a certain ringworm. Ringworms were extremely common among poor people during the 1800s they thought it was caused by bad hygiene. Now it has been proven that it is not actually caused by a worm the proper medical term is Tinea which is a fungus. (Homei A, 2013) Ringworm is classified by the part of the body that got infected the most common are head, face, arms, legs, palm area of the hand, fingers, and feet. The classification can also be made according to the host preferences the fungi has in humans it’s anthropophilic species in animal’s zoophilic species and in the soil, it’s geophilic species. Statistics show the ringworm in the scalp and body Is considered “very common” more than 3 million cases in the US per year they are most affected from the ages 3 to 40 years old.

Never share clothing, undergarments, sport equipment like helmets, or towels. In locker rooms, public shower, and public areas always wear sandals or tennis. (Ringworm Cure Info, 2013)

Facts Some facts about ringworm is that it’s not really cause by a worm but by some fungi. It’s spread by direct contact with person or animal with this fungus. Ringworms are extremely contagious. It causes red itchy patches. They more than likely occur in people who have weak immune systems or poor hygiene. (Melissa Conrad Stöppler, 2017)
Conclusion
Learning about ringworms really made me realize how careful I must be to avoid getting this type of fungus. Now I will not be sharing clothes or towels. I will now teach others about ringworms to inform
