ESFJ Personality

Decent Essays
The results of my MBTI indicator revealed that I was an ESFJ personality type. The way I take the results is that I am mainly focused externally and deal with things according to how I feel about them. I feel this personality type fits me well. As a nurse I am hypervigilant about my environment. I am able to perform critical tasks in a timely manner and I am good at seeing problems before they arise. These are great traits to have as a nurse! In my personal life I am a nurturer when it comes to my family I live by the words my grandfather always told me “family above all else.” If someone crosses a family member of mine especially my children, I will defend them to the ground with the same respects if something great happens I am the first

Admittedly that indeed sounds like me, but it was not until I did further research that I was finally sold on that the Myer-Briggs Type Indicator is accurate. The first letter represents where I get my primary source of energy. My primary source of energy is E, which stands for extroversion. Minh Tan wrote a profile of ENFJ which went through every aspect of the personality traits to career choices. Tan referred to the ENFJs as the Teachers/Givers and wrote, “As an ENFJ, you’re primary mode of living is focused externally, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit into your personal value system.”…

Personal leadership / management style analysis During my first few weeks in the field experience course, I have noticed the complexity of leadership and management that is involved in the work field. Both, a leader and a manager are very important people in an organization. According to Collins (2001), managers and leaders “exist in different forms, roles and responsibilities”; as a result, Five Level Hierarchy exists, where level one has highly capable individuals, two is contributing team member, three is competent manager, four is an effective leader, and finally five is an executive. A great leader must be an effective communicator in order to lead a group of people in order to accomplish a goal or vision.…

In week one of class we discussed the four historical approaches Humanism, Behaviorism, Cognitive and Psychodynamic. Of these four approaches I can identify with Behaviorism because of the three historical perspectives for this approach being Associative Learning, Classical Conditioning and Operant Conditioning. As you can see, this is not the first time I have experienced Keirsey as a tool for personal assessment. The interesting thing is that both recorded times I have taken this particular evaluation I ended up with the exact same conclusion of being a “Guardian”, even 5 years apart. In my life I have done many personality type analyses as part of my personal practice to be self aware of my communication proficiency. This began in my early 20’s when I was in a very lost and troubled time and sought out guidance towards a career. The counselor I worked with had me complete a battery of tests and questionnaires to help point me in the right direction according to what my personality dictated.…

According to our textbook, personality can be defined as “the sum total of ways in which an individual reacts to and interacts with others” (Robbins et al., 105). In God’s infinite wisdom, He not only created man is His own image; He also gave each person a distinct personality (Genesis 1:27, Holman Christian Standard Bible). He knew that in order for us to be a functioning society (as well as an affective ministry) we needed to have different perspectives and behavioral traits (1 Corinthians 12:17-20, HCSB). Some of those differences are rooted deep within our people groups’ cultures and different ways of life. It is theorized that we are born predisposed to certain personality traits but as we grow, learn, and have our own unique experiences, those traits become more and more a part of who we are until they ultimately define us as individuals (Kroegner et al., 11,13).…
