The musical piece was rated as a 2, which means it is at a moderate skill level and appropriate for the abilities the participants share. Generally, sight reading pieces are measured 1 as easy, 2 as moderate and 3 as difficult. Each participant will receive the excerpt written for their personal musical instrument that they play. For example, flutists will receive the excerpts written for flutes, clarinet players will receive the excerpt written for clarinets and trumpet players will receive the excerpts written for trumpets, and so forth. For example, one will be clear, one strongly tinted with blue and one slightly tented with blue. Only blue overlays will be used opposed to other colors like red, green and yellow overlays have shown little success and will not be tested in this experiment based on results from Iovino et al. (1998). Transparency overlays have shown promising results compared to lenses worn by previous participants like in the Hall et al. (2013). Thus, clear, and two different tints of blue overlays will be used in the present
